1、 Project Overview
The upgrading and renovation project of Jiaochangshan Sewage Treatment Plant in Cixi City is a key construction project in Ningbo City. It is also the first sewage treatment plant upgrading project in Cixi City to adopt AAO-MBR membrane technology, with a designed treatment capacity of 80000 tons/day, undertaking the sewage treatment task of the entire central urban area of Cixi City. In order to meet the requirements of the Zhejiang Provincial Local Emission Standards (DB33/2169-2018), this technological upgrade will transform the original CAST process into AAO-MBR process. The deep treatment system of this project adopts the hydrophilic MBR membrane product independently developed by Shuiyi, and provides an integrated solution for the deep treatment system. Since its completion and water supply in December 2021, the project has been operating normally and with good results.


2、 Core Technology - MBR Ultra Hydrophilic Separation Membrane Integration Technology
The "Water Art MBR Ultra Hydrophilic Separation Membrane Integrated Technology" used in the upgrading and renovation project of Jiaochangshan Sewage Treatment Plant in Cixi City was awarded the "First Prize of Ningbo Science and Technology Progress Award" in 2020. The water art MBR membrane adopts the permanent hydrophilic modification technology of full separation layer chemical cross-linking, which enables the membrane fibers to have complete hydrophilic properties throughout the entire water flow channel. The product has the characteristics of high flux, low energy consumption, and high pollution resistance. Through process improvement, the separation layer of the water art hollow fiber membrane is tightly combined with the inner lining support layer, with high peel strength, and can withstand frequent backwash operation without peeling of the hollow fiber membrane, ensuring the stable operation of the MBR membrane system. The main features of this product are:
① High throughput: Taking domestic sewage as an example, the operating throughput is as high as 26LMH, which is 60% higher than the previous generation product.
② Hydrophilic permanent dry film technology: dry packaging, transportation, installation, no need for organic solution replacement, convenient packaging and storage; The product can be reused after being soaked and dried, with almost no attenuation in membrane flux.
③ High strength: Adopting an inner lining reinforced structure, the maximum tensile strength exceeds 200N (about 20kg), with zero wire breakage; Resistant to backwashing and peeling strength exceeding 5 bar, suitable for high flow backwashing without peeling.


3、 Process flow
The upgrading and renovation project of Jiaochangshan Sewage Treatment Plant in Cixi City is located in the central urban area of Cixi City, with a limited land area. Therefore, this upgrading and renovation project requires high requirements for the land occupation, integration, and flexibility of the treatment process. After multiple on-site investigations and process reviews, the owner and expert group unanimously believe that MBR process is an ideal solution.
The upgrading and renovation project of Jiaochangshan Sewage Treatment Plant in Cixi City has a daily treatment capacity of 80000 tons. After pre-treatment and biochemical treatment, the raw water enters the "submerged MBR membrane tank+disinfection tank" for deep treatment. MBR uses membranes to filter activated sludge mixtures, achieving sludge water separation and greatly increasing the concentration of activated sludge in the biochemical tank; In addition, due to the high filtration accuracy of the membrane, it ensures clear and transparent effluent.


4、 Operation effect
The online monitoring system's continuous monitoring data for six months of MBR membrane system effluent shows that the effluent quality is better than the requirements of Zhejiang Province's clean discharge standards. Among them:


5、 Demonstration significance
After the construction and operation of the upgrading and renovation project of Jiaochangshan Sewage Treatment Plant in Cixi City, the regional ecological environment has been greatly improved, the reuse rate of water resources has been increased, and the supply-demand contradiction of water resources in Cixi urban area has been effectively alleviated. The successful construction and application of this project have verified the safety, stability, and economy of domestic MBR membrane technology.
The ecological environment is fragile, and water control is not a one-time solution.
